Clean & Safe Water

Project aims to drill at least 26 community Boreholes to provide access to clean and safe water to 13,000 people who are currently without access to clean and safe water in Greater Paya Sub-County in the rural areas of Tororo District in Eastern Uganda. In addition, the project will identify, form and build the capacity of 26 community water-user committees for better hygiene and sanitation and also to ensure sustainable usage of the water sources.

Currently, 13,000 people in Greater Paya Sub-County lack access to clean and safe water with some communities spending over 10 hours and walk miles carrying heavy containers just to get 20 Litres container of water; people share open water wells with animals thus outbreak of waterborne illness and death, low school attendance and high dropout rate, poor performance and insecurity among women and girls. Open wells get contaminated and quickly dries up during


The Project will drill a community Borehole for every 500 people in different villages in the region thus bringing clean water closer to people, reduce waterborne related diseases, reduce on the current 10 hours period spent just to get a 20 Litres’ Jerrycan of water, increase school attendance, increase literacy, promote productivity, improve on the health conditions of women and girls, form water-user committees and increase awareness on WASH
