Our Projects
Scholastic Materials for Rural and Vulnerable Children
Development Alert partnered with The Pollination Project-USA and Martyn Lucas Investor, also from the USA, to support 410 rural and in-need school-going children in Paya Sub County with educational materials. This project enabled children to receive a dozen exercise books and five pens/pencils, allowing them to keep in school. This project also gave parents and guardians relief in planning well for the children’s educational material needs. The projects supplied 4,920 Exercise Books and 2,050 Pens.
Community Borehole Project
With support from Global Joy Giving, a philanthropic initiative in the USA, Development Alert received support to drill a community Borehole providing access to clean and safe water in Kisia Village in Paya Sub County. This project is helping communities especially the women and girls who normally fetch water needed by their families. It has brought water closer reducing the long distances they covered to collect water, enabled a community that never had a clean and safe water sources before to have one among others. Over 1000 people have been relieved of water crisis challenges.
However, there is still a need for more boreholes so that multiple villages can have access to clean and safe water sources. Your donation can help a community get a water source and have access to clean and safe water.
Sewing Machines and Fabrics for Employment and Income
With support from Global Joy Giving, a philanthropic Initiative, Martyn Lucas Investor from the USA, and William Gartelmann from Canada, Development Alert has supported seven young ladies who are trained tailors with brand new sewing machines and start-up fabrics. This has given the young ladies new employment opportunities and an opportunity to earn income to support their families. The project has helped improve household incomes for the young tailors, as they can now provide basic needs to their families and improve their living conditions. With this initiative, Development Alert has received overwhelming requests from many youths and trained tailors who need similar support. With your support, a young tailor can own a new sewing machine and start making fabric as employment for income. $170 buys a new sewing machine, and $200 buys startup fabric for one person to start a tailoring business.
Youth Capacity Building and Skilling
Development Alert partnered with Sere Sub County and supported the training of 5 youths in different lifelong skills with support from the MasterCard Foundation. Upon completion of the trainings, the youths embarked on different income-generating activities, such as making sandals, bakery work, saloon work, and weaving, among others, and are now able to earn income. Through these, they have been able to improve the living conditions of their households.
Every donation goes a long way in helping build the skills and capacity of a community in need, support their income-generating ventures, provide decent employment opportunities, and allow people to earn income so that they can support their families and maintain their living conditions.
Support to the Old and Vulnerable

These include providing food, bedding, clothes, shelter, medication, and other needs.
With your support, we are able to continue to provide support to our senior and vulnerable members of the community.
